Playing it Forward Locally
The Flutopia Initiative Food Bank Falala was the first musical charity event The Flutopia Initiative organized, in December of 2012, featuring its founder
performing with a variety of area professionals also interested in "changing the world, one concert at a time."
Since then, The Flutopia Initiative has been "Playing it Forward" annually, in the same fashion, by collecting monetary and canned good donations for the State College Food Bank. Hosts for the local concerts have included Robert M. Sides Family Music Center (The Food Bank Falala), Foxdale Village (The Flutopia Initiative Winter Kaleidoscope Concert), and Stone Church (Play it Forward Concert) in Huntingdon, PA.
Composer David Morris' jazz piece "Play It Forward”, written specifically for the event, was premiered at the very first concert. A version of "Play It Forward" is performed at the end of every Flutopia Initiative event.
